Experiencing a 21st centry classroom
Today, Mrs Leo came from Boston, north eastern USA, into our grade 6 and 7 class. She used “virtual classroom software” which has been developed by an Australian, to share some powerpoint slides, audio, video and chat. Let’s reflect on this amazing lesson and write a post about it.
- Describe some of the slides she presented. she had a slide of our school, cricket,blue tongued lizard,2 trees and a house.
- Discuss some of the questions she asked us. she asked us about the blue tongued lizard and asked if anyone had one. she also asked about the school and which buildings were ours.
- Which questions surprised you most? the one about the meat pie I was very suprised because they are really popular here.
- Did you learn anything new during the session? I learnt that they dont have meat pies in america they have a diffent pie but I forgot what it was called.
- Do you think we accurately portrayed a glimpse of life at our school and local area?why? Yes we used the pointer to show our shool and the school building and we talkde a bit about our school
- What about a glimpse of Australian culture? Why?
- Do you enjoy being in a virtual classroom. Justify your reasons? Yes I do like using the virtial classroom because you can talk to people all over the world.
- What skills do you think we need to develop and improve upon to successfully participate in such a class?
Be quite while other people are talking and liten to what theother person is saying so that you can answer back.
- Can you see this as being the classroom of the future? Why or why not? Would you like it to be? Yes in can see it being the classroom of the future but i woudnt like it that much. Its better having a teacher in the classroom and being with yopur classmates
